Introducing Singing Carrots AI Coach (Desktop Beta): real-time feedback + teacher-like guidance

📱 Update — June 2026: The Singing Carrots AI Coach is now available as an iPhone app — Singing Carrots AI Vocal Coach on the App Store. The article below describes the original desktop beta.

Today, we’re opening a limited beta of the Singing Carrots AI Coach — available on desktop only, directly on our website. For a short period during this beta, users on all paid tiers will be able to try it. (Access rules may change after the beta as we learn and scale.)

If you’ve ever used a “singing app” and thought: “Cool… it shows I’m off pitch, but what do I do with that?” — this beta is built for you.

The current landscape: lots of pitch tools, fewer “coaches”

There are some excellent apps that help you practice:

  • Interactive lesson apps that listen and give real-time feedback on accuracy and timing (e.g., Yousician).
  • Karaoke-first apps that help you “stay on pitch” with pitch guides / pitch tracking (e.g., Smule).
  • Pitch-focused training apps designed to get you singing more in tune (e.g., SingTrue).
  • “AI vocal coach” mobile apps that offer instant feedback and guided practice (e.g., Riyaz, Sing Sharp).

Most of these are mobile-first experiences.
And most of them (even the good ones) are strongest at the quantitative side of singing practice: Were you on pitch? Were you on time?

That’s useful — but it’s not the same as coaching.

A vocal coach doesn’t just say “wrong note.” A coach helps you answer:

  • Why am I missing the note?
  • Is it a range issue, control issue, timing issue, tension issue, or confidence issue?
  • What’s the simplest drill that fixes my specific mistake today?

That’s the gap we’re trying to close.

What we’re building: an AI Coach that behaves more like a teacher

Singing Carrots has long focused on real-time pitch analysis with visual feedback — so you can see what you’re singing and adjust immediately.
(Real-time visual feedback has a real history in singing pedagogy and research — it’s not a gimmick.)

With the AI Coach beta, we’re adding the missing layer: guidance that turns feedback into a plan.

What this feels like in practice

In an AI Coach session, you can expect:

  • A personalized starting point
You don’t have to guess where to begin. The coach aims to start you in a comfortable zone and build from there.
  • Coaching, not just scoring
Instead of “try again,” you get helpful direction: what to focus on, what likely caused the miss, and how to correct it.
  • Exercises that adapt to you
When something is too hard (or too easy), the coach adjusts the challenge so you can keep progressing instead of getting stuck.
  • A clear takeaway at the end
You finish with a sense of what improved and what to do next — like the end of a good lesson.

This is the difference between a tool that measures and a system that teaches.

Why this is different from “AI singing apps” (without the hype)

A lot of products use “AI” to mean: the app listens to your pitch and shows a result. That’s valuable — and it’s part of what we do too.

But the next step is what matters: turning that signal into instruction.

Vocal coach Mark J.W. Graham puts it bluntly: AI tools tend to focus on measurable elements like pitch and timing, while singing progress also depends on qualitative, human factors and guidance.

We agree with the spirit of that critique — and we’re building toward a practical solution:

Real-time feedback + coach-like guidance in the same loop, so your practice becomes more like an actual lesson:
listen → try → see → understand → adjust → repeat.

What we’re pioneering (and why desktop-first matters)

1) A browser-based AI vocal coach on a desktop

Many “AI vocal coach” offerings are primarily app-store mobile products.
We’re starting with desktop on the web, because it gives you:

  • A bigger screen for clearer feedback
  • More stable setup options (USB mics, headphones)
  • A better “practice space” feeling (less like doomscrolling, more like training)

2) Coaching that stays connected to your real-time feedback

Singing Carrots already provides real-time visual pitch feedback as you sing.
The AI Coach is designed to use that feedback to guide what you do next, so each attempt has a purpose.

3) A “vocal gym” mindset: short drills, measurable progress

Karaoke-first apps are great for performance fun (and we love that). App Store+1
But if your goal is skill-building — intonation, stability, control — you need a practice loop that’s closer to training than to recording.

That’s the lane Singing Carrots has been in: structured practice with immediate feedback and progression.
The AI Coach is the next evolution of that idea.

Who the beta is for

The AI Coach beta is especially useful if you:

  • Struggle to stay in tune and want practical, step-by-step correction
  • Practice alone and wish you had someone to say “here’s the one thing to focus on right now”
  • Get stuck repeating exercises without knowing what to change
  • Want online singing lessons-style guidance, but on your schedule
  • Prefer training over performance — like a “gym session” for your voice

And yes: if you’re the person who says “I can only sing in the shower” — you’re exactly who we built Singing Carrots for.

How to try it (Desktop Beta)

  1. Open Singing Carrots on desktop: Try the AI Singing Coach
  2. Sign in
  3. (If you are new to SInging Carrots) Answer the onboarding survey and choose your plan
  4. Go to Pitch Training and start the AI Coach “Experimenta” beta session (you’ll see the beta entry point)

During this beta phase, we’ve temporarily opened access across all paid tiers so more people can test it and tell us what feels magical vs. confusing.

Beta expectations (aka: help us shape it)

This is a beta, which means:

  • You may notice moments where the coach feels brilliant…and moments where it needs tuning.
  • Your feedback directly affects what we improve next.

If you try it, the most helpful feedback is specific:

  • “Exercises felt too high / too low”
  • “I didn’t understand what to do”
  • “The coach explanation helped, but I wanted an example”
  • “It matched my audio well / didn’t match well”

The bigger goal

We’re not trying to “replace singing teachers.” We’re trying to make high-quality, personalized practice available to anyone, anytime — and to make the experience feel closer to the best parts of a real lesson: clarity, progression, and encouragement.

If you’ve been waiting for an AI vocal coach that feels like coaching (not just scoring), this is the first step.

Go try the desktop beta — and tell us what you want it to become.
