Running out of breath mid-phrase? Notes wobbling when you try to hold them? You’re not alone—and now there’s a dedicated tool to fix it.
Sustain Training is our newest feature, designed specifically to develop the breath control and pitch stability that separates beginners from confident singers.
Why Sustain Training?
Most vocal practice focuses on hitting notes. But holding notes—with stability, control, and power—is an entirely different skill.
Think about it:
- The climax of a ballad where you need to hold that high note
- Sustained harmonies in choir or ensemble singing
- The breath control required for long phrases without gasping
- Maintaining pitch when you’re running low on air
These moments expose gaps in technique that scales and arpeggios don’t address.
How It Works
The concept is simple. The results are powerful.
1. Pick a Note
Select any note on the interactive piano keyboard. Start in your comfortable range and expand from there.
2. Listen
Tap “Listen” to hear the target pitch. This is the note you need to match and sustain.
3. Sing and Hold
Sustain the note as long as you can while maintaining accurate pitch. Real-time visual feedback shows exactly how you’re doing.
4. Achieve Levels
Every 5 seconds of accurate sustaining earns you one level for that note:
- 5 seconds = Level 1
- 10 seconds = Level 2
- 15 seconds = Level 3
- …and so on
The longer you sustain, the higher your level climbs.
Visual Progress Tracking
Watch your vocal range fill up with colorful progress blocks:
- Stacking blocks show levels achieved on each note
- Block colors evolve as you master consecutive notes—from blue to bronze, silver, gold, and diamond
The goal: build a complete, colorful keyboard showing you can sustain any note in your range.
Earn Carrot Points
Sustain Training isn’t just practice—it’s rewarding practice. Earn carrot points for every level you achieve, with bonuses for building consecutive note streaks across your range.
Who Is This For?
Sustain Training is perfect if you:
- Struggle with breath support — running out of air before the phrase ends
- Have wobbly pitch — notes that start strong but drift flat or sharp
- Want to expand your range — sustaining at the edges requires more control
- Need vocal stamina — for long rehearsals, performances, or recording sessions
- Are building fundamentals — sustaining is foundational to all singing
Tips for Best Results
- Warm up first — Don’t start with your highest or lowest notes
- Start comfortable — Build levels in your easy range before pushing limits
- Focus on stability — A steady Level 2 beats a shaky Level 4
- Use headphones — Reduces echo and improves pitch detection
- Practice daily — Progress resets daily, encouraging consistent practice

FAQ
Do I need a paid subscription? Yes. Sustain Training is a premium-only feature included in all Pro plans. There’s no free trial for this feature.
Does it work on mobile? Yes. Any modern browser with microphone access—desktop or mobile.
How long should I practice? Start with 10-15 minutes. Sustaining is more tiring than it seems—don’t strain your voice.
Why do my levels reset daily? Daily resets encourage consistent practice. Your all-time best is tracked separately so you can see long-term progress.
What if I can’t sustain for 5 seconds? Start with notes in your comfortable middle range. As your breath control improves, you’ll hit 5 seconds and beyond.
Does this replace my other vocal training? No—it complements it. Use Sustain Training alongside pitch training, AI Coach sessions, and your regular practice routine.
